August 6, 2014

I forgot to mention yesterday the very important news that I can now play Tera again. I didn't actually play it up I jumped on board a Reddit post belonging to someone else with the same problem and one of the people at the game studio posted a possible fix. In involved going into the game folder and deleting two random files. Or not so random I guess. This lead to stuff being downloaded again when I opened the game launcher but then I was able to not only log-in, but also click the 'Play' button. So now I guess whenever I get the urge to play again I'll be able to.

I had my first eye exam in four years today. I knew it had been awhile but apparently four years is long enough for everyone there to think I was a new patient. That was a little strange. Things have also changed a lot in four years. They remodeled so I ended up waiting in a waiting room in the back of the building that did not exist the last time I was there. And I waited there for quite awhile because even though I got there early they were apparently backed up. The little yellow drops have also disappeared. I never had a problem with them but I know other people did. Now they have the two-pronged thing they stick really close to your eye that someone measures your eye pressure. Speaking of pressure, to take my blood pressure they put a wrist cuff on me and had me cross my hand over my chest and rest it on my shoulder. I have never seen that before.

As for my eyes, my prescription changed. That much was obvious. I'm not sure how much it changed but I don't think it was too much. I still want to do Warby Parker at some point for new frames but I also kind of wanted to see a non-blurry world again, sooner rather than later, so I am going to have new lenses put in my current frames. They had to take my glasses for a few minutes to examine the frames and make sure they were in good condition and could handle new lenses being put in. That kind of sucked because I can only see a foot without my glasses and I was just sitting there kind of staring at nothing as people walked by. The lab was backed up today and I would have had to wait at least forty-five minutes without my glasses in order to get the lenses put in, so I opted out of that. I'm going to go back in Saturday morning and hopefully the wait will be shorter. Life would suck without glasses.

While I was sitting there blind, I couldn't help but listen to the conversation going on directly behind me. A mom was there with her twelve-year-old girl who was getting her first pair of glasses. As the “stylist”, who was at least in her sixties, was going over the various options for lenses they came to anti-glare. Later on when I was being asked if I wanted to add that I asked how much it was and they told me $90. I told them I would just stay away from glares. But, back to the people behind me. The mother's first thought was school pictures and she asked her daughter if she thought she would be wearing her glasses in the pictures. She wasn't planning on it so the mom wasn't sold on the anti-glare. Then the stylist brought up selfies. She and the mom were so hip. Those two wanting to feel in-the-know about the youth of today add $90 onto that little girl's pair of glasses. I guess it was a good sales tactic.

The skies kinda of looked on the verge of rain all day. Not dark and foreboding but there was just something off about the color of the clouds and it made you wonder. And wonder correctly if you guessed rain because shortly before stepping out of Chipotle with my food the rain came. As I walked to my car it was just giant raindrops that were pretty far apart because I wasn't getting covered in rain but when the drops hit they left a noticeable amount of water. About halfway home a fairly significant amount of rain started to fall and I had to turn my windshield wipers up to full speed just to see. And then, just as quickly as it had started, it stopped. It all lasted under ten minutes. I had a brief thought about getting my car washed today and I'm glad it didn't progress from being a tiny thought into action.

I had to re-wrap my burrito when I got home, so I'm getting pretty good at that, but despite that it was a pretty good burrito. I feel like I got all of the sour cream and cheese in the half I ate tonight and I could have done without that. Kind of makes me want to stop getting those two ingredients again because it was a bit much. We'll see if there is any in the second half tomorrow. The videos after dinner went better than expected. I most popular ones were probably the two Hutch posted, both from lives streams with Fwiz and OpTicJ. In the first he explains why he wants them to call him Hutch, because that is what his friends call him. The second video was from the other two guys yelling at him for pulling a sniper rifle out and getting killed. At the very end of it he makes a call back to the first video (which I think in real time happened in a stream a couple nights before the sniper argument) and asks both of them to start referring to him as Shaun, insinuating they aren't friends anymore. It was pretty good.

I added more to my sister's crocheted dishcloth and I think I'm up to about nine and a half inches long. I talked with her about it tonight and I think the goal is to go to at least twelve inches. That shouldn't be too bad. Tomorrow I'd like to keep going with that and get a start on the fourth coaster.

Tonight I watched YouTube videos and played more Pool Nation. That is kind of an addictive game. In each match there are three challenges. You only have to win the match to go onto the next but the real goal is to get all three challenges completed. If the match has a bonus match attached to it you have to complete at least two challenges to unlock it. The bonus matches unlock new cues, custom balls, and decals for the table. So far I have managed to get three stars (finish all the challenges) on each match. This has required a lot of restarting matches. Games that you can instantly reset are the most addictive because you keep telling yourself “just one more try” and then that turns into a hundred more tries. The challenges are starting to get fairly tricky so we'll see how long I can keep up.

Tomorrow morning we have a back-to-school district meeting at the high school and I am going to be screwed. The main thing starts at 8:20AM but the kindergarten teacher my mom works with wants to meet at the elementary school at 7:30AM. It is currently after one o'clock in the morning. I am already looking forward to the nap I will be taking tomorrow.
