Today was a fairly boring day. Lots of YouTube, Netflix, and
crocheting. Yeah. Not even remotely eventful. On Netflix I watched
Mean Girls, The
Last Stand, and restarted the
first season of Supernatural.
I watched Mean Girls
because it was rotating through the top of the Netflix page and
recently I saw a quote or two from the movie. It has been I don't
know how many years since I last saw it and it's an alright movie. I
remember it being better. It is also weird seeing Lindsey Lohan
looking normal. She had so much potential.
I watched The Last Stand
because I added it to my list awhile ago and the new volunteer kid
mentioned it yesterday. I saw most, if not all of it when it was in
theaters. Also not a great movie but definitely a fun movie.
Watching Schwarzenegger and Stallone and other old action stars in
modern action movies makes me uncomfortable. Not only is it becoming
less believable, it often looks ridiculous (like Stallone running),
and I worry for their health and safety. Despite all that, The
Last Stand is a movie I could
see myself watching again. Not any time soon but eventually.
I have wanted to get into Supernatural for awhile because it
looks interesting and it seems to have a very loyal fanbase. I have
also seen a lot of pictures with quotes from the show that were
pretty entertaining. However long ago I attempted to start watching
it, maybe last summer, but Netflix would only play the first episode
and wouldn't let me start the next. That has apparently been
resolved because tonight I was able to watch four episodes. I am
liking it so far. I could use some more comedic relief but maybe
that will get better as the show progresses. I would like to keep
watching it so we'll see how that goes.
Tonight I also played some Pool Nation. A pool game I got on
Steam because it was $1.49 (85% off). I also got a copy for my
friend. It reminded me of a fancy, updated version of Yahoo! Pool,
which we used to play back in our freshman year of college. There is
even a completely top-down view which is very reminiscent of that old
game. Tonight I went through the tutorial levels and the number of
things you can do in the game in terms of shots is crazy. One of the
tutorials had me curving and bouncing the cue ball off the top of the
bumper. There was a name for it but I can't remember. You can also
jump the ball, curve shots, put forward and backward spin, and lots
of other stuff. They have got ball physics worked out. After the
tutorials I started the singleplayer campaign and played through the
first three matches. I did fairly well but I had to play one of the
matches twice because I sunk all or almost all of the balls except
for the last one so I lost. It's a fun game. At some point I need
to see if my friend actually gets the game installed and see if he
has time to play a round with me. He's a really good real-life pool
player so there is little doubt that he could probably kick my ass in
the game but it would still be fun to play.
Tomorrow I will at least be getting out of the house. My mom has to
go meet the fence guy and the realtor at the new house and I'm going
to go in and measure some rooms. I need to get a better idea of the
size of desk I can get and the size/number of bookcases. I'm not
sure what I'll do with the rest of my day. Probably crochet and
other productive things.
Here is a poem and/or song I wrote in high school, found in an old
student planner. A lot of people annoyed me in high school. Fact.
You try so hard to be different
that you all look the same.
You dress beyond our imagination
and it just comes out plain.
Everyone tries to be unique
but they end up bein' a poseur.
If you really have to try so hard
aren't you just a loser?
Why do you rebel?
What are you tryin' to prove?
You don't wanna be in the mainstream
but you're fallin' in the groove.
What is there to complain about
when you're drivin' in a new car?
You walk around with your nose up
like you're already a star.
You think you're the best
and that everyone knows you
But in reality
we all want to stone you.
