Today happened. It was a fairly boring day.
Most of my morning at work was spent upstairs, with a few trips down
for walkthroughs or to check something downstairs. I compiled all
the stats related to the adult side of summer reading, including
overall participants, the number of events, and money spent. Then I
continued researching Kindle stuff. I emailed a few more libraries
and heard back from one of them. They had discontinued their program
awhile ago because their Kindles became obsolete and their patrons
lost interest as they got their own devices. I don't know that we'll
have that problem for awhile with our homebound patrons because
they're not that tech savvy. Which also creates a steep learning
curve, but I still think there's potential.
This afternoon I was basically on the desk the whole time and spent
that time reading about readers advisory. It was kind of a
distraction from other things but I learned some things. I was also
on the desk just a few minutes too long because I took a call that
ended up with me giving a tour tomorrow. Yay. I've only done one
but they're kind of stressful. Especially when they come at the last
minute.
And that was my day at work.
When I got home I ate dinner, watched YouTube videos, and spent the
rest of the evening watching New Girl. I also finally made
test swatches of the two ink samples I got awhile ago. I think the
green one might be my new favorite green. Noodler's Gruene Cactus
Eel. At some point I'm going to get it in a pen and see how it
actually writes. I've heard Noodler's ink can be kind of wet. I'm
hoping it looks as good with a regular pen as it does with the glass
pen.
It's nearly ten o'clock so I'm way ahead of things tonight. This
still took me an hour to write but I've been slower. Tomorrow I have
to be at the library at eight o'clock for an all staff meeting. At
least I'll get off at five o'clock.
