June 9, 2017

This morning I opened at the library and sharpened pencils until the sharpener died. When we opened I was on desk for two hours. I did things during those two hours. I'm sure of it. Along with helping patrons I'm sure most of my time was spent working on a program proposal. I may have even finished it this morning. I can't remember, but it did get done today and I was able to send it to the PR coordinator, so that's one more thing to check off my list.

I talked with the teen librarian throughout the day about the series. We decided on who we wanted to contact in the community to partner with and divided up who would be sending the emails. For the rest of the day, when I wasn't doing other things, I was composing emails. I followed the format of the email the teen librarian had already sent for the mental wellness class, tweaking it to fit the group I was writing the email for. I think I managed to write three or four of the emails but didn't send any of them because I couldn't come up with a good subject line for the email. I'm waiting to hear back from the teen librarian to see what she used for the mental wellness email.

I took a picture of the box I made for the staff prize drawing tickets and posted it to the staff blog along with a blurb about what it was and where to find it. It went over pretty well and I was happy about that. I thought it was funny and thankfully other people did, too.

Other than helping the occasional patron, that was pretty much my day. At least what I remember of it. One interesting thing was that when I went to lunch, the guy who was parked next to me was walking up to his car just as I got to mine. He had backed in so our driver's doors were facing each and he waited for me to get into my car. He left the parking lot first but I ended up getting in front of him because I took a different way to the main road. He ended up behind me all the way across town to my Mom's house because he apparently lived in the same neighborhood. Then, an hour later, we ended up back at the parking lot at almost exactly the same time. He pulled in right before me and I had to wait for him to park. The timing of everything was interesting to me.

When I got home tonight I was going to make the biscuits I found in one of the cookbooks my aunt gave me. I bought the ingredients when I went shopping earlier in the week but it turns out I'm missing cornstarch. I thought I had some but I think I was thinking of baking powder. Whoops. I only need a little bit so I'll see if my sister has any and swing by her house tomorrow after I do my laundry if she does. If not I'll just go to the store.

Instead of biscuits I roasted vegetables, made brown rice, steamed a bag of corn in the microwave, and made the avocado pistachio dip. I only had Brussels sprouts and cauliflower to roast so there was a distinct lack of color to my food tonight. I also don't know how I'm feeling about the brown rice in a bag. It's so mushy. That would make it easier to eat with chopsticks because it clumps well, but I don't have any chopsticks. Maybe I should grab some the next time I go to the Chinese buffet. Or buy some at the grocery store.

After dinner I watched YouTube videos, clicked around the internet, and maybe took a short nap or two in my chair. I've been tired for hours now but it is currently almost one o'clock in the morning because I keep getting distracted while writing this. Distractions are annoying.

Tomorrow I'm going to do laundry, read books, and hopefully make biscuits. I'm looking forward to it.
