This morning when I was about to get into my car, standing in my dark
garage, I accidentally hit the panic button on my keys. The horn
only honked twice before I turned it off but it definitely got my
heart going.
When I had almost made it to the library I got stuck behind a car
that was literally going five miles per hour. I have never
encountered a car going so slow for more than just a second or two.
But they made it from one side street to the next with no signs of
speeding up. I ended up turning off at that second side street
because I couldn't take it anymore.
At work today I did things. I finished my presentation for next
week. At least I think I finished it. I'm calling it done anyway.
I also learned that there is a tour walkthrough so I found that on
our department drive and edited it a bit and added updated
statistics. So I'm feeling a little more confident about the whole
thing. I also put together a few different brochures for each of the
students and I'll include the handouts with that, which I still need
to print out.
I brought my laptop to work and spent some time playing around with
GIMP and got the slides and GIFs thing figured out. So, given the
time to actually make everything, I should be able to post my
presentation as pictures with working GIFs. I'm pretty excited about
it. I'm a little worried about the size of the files, but other than
that, I think I'm good.
On my way back from lunch I passed a car that was going the wrong way
on the wrong side of the median. And they didn't seem to have any
concern about it. Or maybe it was just ignorance to the situation.
Although I don't know how they could have not been aware of the
situation based purely on the layout of the road. Who knows.
Hopefully they figured it out.
Tonight a patron pointed out that one of the new display signs that
went up today had a misspelling on it. It was not my sign and the
file wasn't saved in the public folder so I did some random image
searching to find the image and then recreated the sign with the
correct spelling. It didn't turn out as well because the image
wasn't high resolution enough. I think the original image was
probably the exact same one but instead instead of making the image
the same size I did so that it would fit, they squished it once it
was the right height. If that makes any sense. I left a note on the
original sign and put it in the box of the librarian who made it,
letting her know what was up and that she should probably use her
file to correct it next week and replace my replacement.
I signed up several more patrons for summer reading and handed out
reading prizes for five, ten, fifteen, and twenty hours of reading.
I don't think all of that reading started on the first of the month,
but I also think it is kind of confusing that we let people create
their account early but that they technically aren't supposed to
start start counting hours until June. So I'm just going with it.
I came up with more books to pull for my display but didn't actually
have time to pull books so I'll have to do that on Monday. I also
processed all the books that were taken off my old display. One of
them was marked as missing and two weren't listed as being on the
display anymore, even though they were. That is why it is helpful to
double-check when taking books off a display.
When I got home tonight I ate a little snack, watched YouTube videos,
clicked around the internet, and now I'm watching Mister Rogers.
I also wrote with my pen a little bit. I really need to get back
into my Spenerian practice. I would like to have nice handwriting.
And now, audio journal time. Tomorrow I'm going to do laundry and
hopefully get a lot of reading in. I really slack off on reading
during the week.
