This morning I woke up before my alarm and read in bed four an hour
before getting up and starting my day. My day really didn't consist
of much. I cleaned my house a little bit (just a little sweeping and
moving some empty boxes out to the garage), moved some books into my
barrister bookcase, and moved my elliptical into my bedroom because
it wasn't getting much use sitting in the middle of my living room.
Then I had lunch and watched some YouTube videos.
After lunch I went back to reading until my Dad came over around
1:30PM. The main reason for the visit was to talk about his finger.
He popped the tendon on the top of his left middle finger a week or
so ago. My sister told me about it and she was pretty upset that he
wasn't going to get it fixed. She saw it soon after it happened when
it was still swollen, which didn't help. She said one of the big
reasons he wasn't going to get it fixed was the cost so I sent him a
text basically offering to help pay for it. I didn't hear back from
him for a week and then we set up our talk today. We eventually got
around to the finger and he showed it to me. It's not overly
noticeable unless you're looking for it. The last joint of his
finger is now permanently pointed down because the top tendon isn't
there to hold it up. He said he still has his grip strength and he
can straighten it a little bit more than he could a week ago. He
also pointed out that it is kind of convenient because it is also in
the right position to hold a pencil or utensil and to put in his
contacts. For the most part he said it's mostly cosmetic and not
worth all money and then the rehab to get it fixed. He explained his
reasoning and I'll accept it.
After talking about that we talked about everything else under the
sun. It was good times. We need to hang out more often and
hopefully that will happen. I mentioned wanting to build a workbench
and said he could come hang out in my workshop, as well as
participate in the creation of it because he knows a lot of stuff. I
walked him out and we talked a little while longer in the driveway
before calling it a day a little after 7:00PM. The afternoon flew
by.
When I went back in I ate dinner, watched YouTube videos, and then
went down to the basement to play more Borderlands: The
Pre-Sequel. I finished one story mission. I don't know how long
the game is but I'm doubting my ability to make it to the end. At
the end of the mission I finally went back to the main hub city and
got to spend the moonstones I had collected. That is the currency
used to unlock more inventory space and more ammo. Earlier I “lost”
forty moonstones when I unwittingly opened a moonstone case which
cost forty moonstones to open. I wasn't even paying attention
because I typically just open everything I see and have already hit
the open button before I can register what the pop-up says. I was a
little annoyed by this. I think you're guaranteed a purple weapon (I
got a rocket launcher) but I don't think it is worth it until you've
upgraded inventory and ammo space completely. Tonight I ended up
with about one hundred moonstones to spend, which is a lot, but all I
could think was that I should have had one hundred and forty
moonstones. Oh well. I was able to get up to twenty-seven inventory
slots, over one hundred sniper rounds, and maybe twelve rockets. Not
bad.
It is now half an hour until midnight and I need to record my audio
journal so I can go to bed. I open tomorrow morning. Hooray for
waking up at six o'clock. In a perfect world I would actually get
out of bed at six o'clock and run on the elliptical for a bit before
getting ready. I'm not feeling particularly tired at the moment due
to sleeping in this morning, so I don't foresee myself falling asleep
before midnight, which would already not be enough for a full night
of sleep. So I'm not very confident in my ability to get up and
exercise, especially because it isn't part of my current routine.
But we'll see.
