Today was pretty uneventful, but it started pretty great because I
got to sleep in.
At work today I signed up a lot of teens and adults for summer
reading. I even talked one patron into signing up. He came in to
get help downloading audiobooks from one of our digital services and
after that I told him he could get a piece of chocolate for signing
up for the summer reading program. Everybody loves chocolate.
I added several slides to my presentation for next week. I'm still
not entirely confident about it but I'm getting there. This will be
my first library tour and my first time trying to “sell” the
library to people. No pressure.
I finished typing up a transcript for the presentation I gave
yesterday. I also may have figured out a way to make my slides into
GIFs using GIMP so that I can post them on the staff blog and they'll
actually play the GIFs I put in the original presentation. I haven't
actually tried it yet but in theory it seems like a thing that can be
done. I'll have to try it at some point.
And that was pretty much my day at work. I also helped the
occasional patron, added audiobooks to the audiobook display (which
isn't mine this month but it is the new librarian's and she doesn't
start until next week), pulled a cart of books for the bestsellers
display, and made a list of books for my other display. It was just
a very average day.
When I got home I watched YouTube videos, clicked around the
internet, and now I'm watching the Mister Rogers
marathon. Saturday is the finale and I am hoping they they continue
to show episodes after the marathon is over.
And now I'm going to record my audio
journal.
