It's after eleven o'clock right now so tomorrow is probably going to
suck. But let's talk about today.
I slept a solid nine hours last night and then laid there for another
hour dozing. It was pretty great and just what I needed. After
getting up I ironed my pants, got ready, ate lunch, and went to work.
At work I did things. Today went by pretty fast and I think that was
because I didn't feel like crap today. That really goes a long way.
I caught up on my monthly stats and then I seemed to spend the rest
of my day with summer reading related stuff. Or at least that's the
only thing that is coming to mind right now.
The summer reading focus was on what to do with the extra prizes we
have. We have been advertizing three grand prizes for the teens and
adults but we actually have one more prize for teens and three more
for adults. I had to come up with something to put the drawing
tickets in for each of those prizes. Or so I thought. In the end I
miscounted the number of containers we already had and the number of
prizes we needed containers for. But before I realized that, I
needed to come up with more containers. We discussed buying
something but I ended up getting some small boxes from the ILL lady.
After getting the boxes I was talking to one of the other librarians
and in that discussion I realized there were enough containers
without the boxes and that there were fewer prizes for the grand
prize drawings. So we're all good. We just need to put the
containers together so they look official.
Along with all the other stuff I did that I can't remember, I also
helped patrons throughout the day, earning my keep, and I had a long
conversation with one of the librarians from the university. It
started with her asking if we had recently changed the light bulbs
(which we had) and then it went off into other library things and
ended with signing her up for summer reading. She is actually the
first librarian I spoke to about becoming a librarian many years ago,
but I don't think she remembers that.
After work I went to the grocery store and it was a mixed bag of
success and failure. They didn't have any limes and the only lime
juice they had was the fancy expensive stuff. I also couldn't find
whole wheat pastry flour, even in the fancy expensive section. I
wanted that for a biscuit recipe but my sister said I could at least
recreate regular pastry flour by adding cornstarch. So I said screw
the whole wheat stuff and I'm going to try that. They also didn't
have low-fat plain yogurt, only whole milk plain yogurt. Or low-fat
Greek yogurt but apparently there is a difference. Also, on one side
of the store, there was either a dead animal or rotten meat, because
it smelled like death. Not a very appealing smell when buying food.
When I got home I put away my groceries, ate a cheese stick and some
saltine crackers while I watched YouTube videos, and now I'm writing
this. Which took me nearly an hour to write because I keep getting
distracted. Right now I'm watching a video about what the world's
strongest man eats throughout the day. I have no idea why I'm
watching this. In case you were wondering, though, he ate seven
meals throughout the day for more than 12,000 calories. That's a lot
of food.
Now I'm going to record my audio journal so I can go to bed.
