 Despite not getting a full night of sleep, I apparently woke up right after a REM cycle because I was fully awake. Or at least as awake as I ever am when I have to wake up to an alarm in the morning.

Today at work pretty well. I didn't take notes so I have of course forgotten most of the small details. A decent chunk of my morning was spent creating the labels for the new grand prize containers, printing them, and affixing them to the containers. I also created a tiered layout for the grand prize table because I needed to go to two rows of containers and the back containers kind of got hidden. After a bit of thinking I went and grabbed a bunch of small display sign holders. I was able to line those up along the back of the table and they created a solid enough foundation at just the right height for a taller back row. I think it looks pretty good.

I worked on other things this morning, including helping patrons and getting a start on the program proposal for the adulting series. And probably some other stuff.

This afternoon I printed out my tour information sheet and looked it over. I ended up not using it because I forgot I was holding it. Or maybe I wasn't holding it. I can't remember. I didn't have much time to think about what was happening because the group ended up showing up about twenty minutes early. I was in the middle of signing people up for summer reading and taking someone to find a book on the shelves. And then I went down with the two adults of the group and started the tour. Maybe it helped being caught off guard and being unable to psych myself up. I don't know. The whole thing is a bit of a blur.

I think the tour and presentation went fairly well. It felt like I was talking a lot. Hopefully it wasn't just rambling. I got a few laughs, answered a question or two, got one person to sign up for summer reading, and hopefully got a few of them interested in coming back to the library.

With the rest of my day I pretty much just worked on the staff grand prize box. I needed to wind down a little bit. I made a speech bubble that said “FEED ME” and I created a cardigan in Publisher. I couldn't find a decent picture so I ended up just finding a big picture of argyle print and turned that into a cardigan using a bunch of different shapes to made a deep-v and buttons. It turned out pretty well I think.

When I got home I ate my leftover Qdoba and spent the rest of the night clicking around the internet and catching up on YouTube videos. I was apparently two days behind. And I'm not quite caught up. Once again, I need to watch less YouTube.

And thanks to the YouTube videos, my night has disappeared and now it is late. I need to record my audio journal so I can at least get six hours of sleep. It's going to be close given my level of distraction at the moment.
