The first day of the new year and it feels just like all of my recent
days, in the groundhog day that has become my Christmas break. I was
a little slower getting over to the old house but I eventually made
it, not too long after noon. Then it was more of the same. I dug
stuff out of my closet and came across a pair of Chucks I bought
years ago to wear at one of my college graduations but ended up not
liking them. They had super long maroon laces and a bunch of extra
holes for the laces along the sides of the shoes. They looked cooler
online and I ended up going with green or blue Chucks, depending on
what graduation was. Well, today I pulled out the maroon laces and
laced them up with regular laces, one black and one white to see
which looked better, and they didn't look too bad. All the extra
holes are a little odd but they grow on you, although I might need to
wear black socks with them. At the time I think I also thought they
were too big but they actually aren't. All my other Chucks have
holes in them and are definitely on their last legs so I might start
wearing the closet ones.
I ended my day at the old house down in the basement with my mom
looking through books. I knew that I had over 800 books in my room
but kind of forgot about all the books I had growing up. They ended
up in boxes down in the basement and it is like a walk down memory
lane. We went to library book sales when I was a kid and always
bought Scholastic books in school through the fliers and the book
fair. I think it's awesome how many books we have. One of the rooms
in the old house definitely should have been devoted to books. I
could use that at the new house too. I still haven't figured out
what I'm going to do with all of mine. The amount of shelves I need
would be incredibly expensive. I'll figure it out eventually. Maybe
just a bunch of Rubbermaid containers that I can organize somehow.
Tonight was going to be Chipotle night but when I got down there they
were closed. I don't quite understand being closed on New Years day.
I get closing early on the eve but I don't get January 1st.
Instead we had Sonic and I also finished up the last of my pasta.
That pasta had turned into a bit of an abusive relationship. It
mostly hurt me but I kept coming back for more.
I spent the rest of my night playing Fantasy Life
and watching TV. I watched Hot Fuzz,
which is still a great movie, and then several episodes of The
Twilight Zone. The SyFy channel
had a marathon of the show all day long. All classic episodes from
the sixties. I'm a fan.
It's midnight now but tomorrow I
would like to wake up relatively early so I can go back over to the
old house and get some work done before I have to go to the theater.
I don't work until the evening but I need all the time I can get over
there.
