December 22, 2014

Today seemed to go by really fast. This morning I got my 24-hour collection sample ready to ship. I forgot about the need to send a photocopy of my insurance card but luckily I had my printer/scanner at the new house. Unluckily, the scanner wasn't working. Normally I use it wirelessly, but we don't have the internet so I plugged it in and it didn't like that. Instead, I took pictures with my phone, plugged my phone into my computer to transfer the pictures, edited them in Gimp, put the in a Word document, and printed them out. Thankfully, the printer worked. Weird that it would and the scanner wouldn't but I guess there are different drivers involved. Or something. Either way, I got it done.

After lunch I dropped that package off at FedEx and then headed over to the old house to meet my mom and sister to start going through stuff in the basement. We did that for several hours and I think we made decent progress. There were several breaks for walks down memory lane.

We had Chinese food for dinner. I always get fries and tonight there was a surprise because instead of the usual crinkle ones they gave me curly fries. Yum. I also had curly fries yesterday for dinner. I can't remember the last time I had curly fries, it's probably been years, and now I've had them twice in the last two days. Weird.

Tonight I came back to the old house to do internet things. I downloaded a few different programs to render maps in Minecraft. I couldn't get the first couple to work but the third one, which is a slightly updated version of the program I used years ago, finally came through. My island really doesn't feel as isolated when viewed in one big map. Yesterday when I was playing I upped the view distance to the highest setting and now I can see a couple of the small islands nearby, which also helped make me feel less cut off.

I'm not sure what's on the agenda for tomorrow. Probably very worthwhile, intriguing things.
