December 13, 2014

I got a text in the middle of the night last night informing me that my services would not be needed at the theater today. Annoying because I want the money but not annoying because I prefer not to be there.

I was productive with my day off. Semi-productive. This morning I finally put up the curtain rod (and curtain) in the second room downstairs. It went smoothly other than the fact that the curtain rod was for a single window, not a double. The solution ended up being swapping it out with one of the ones in my mom's room, because she has to single windows but each has a curtain rod for a double window. We actually had two single window curtain rods so I replaced both of my mom's with those, leaving us with one extra double window curtain rod.

I also finally moved the old writing desk from my grandma's house and my grandpa's old kitchen chair down into that room. Tomorrow, if I am not feeling super lazy, I might start putting polyurethane on the two desks I bought. That has also been a long time coming. I'm still not in too much of a hurry because we don't have the internet so my desktop isn't over there yet. And even if we did have the internet, my desktop is still out of commission so I don't really need a computer desk at the moment. But eventually we will have the internet and my desktop will be fixed and I will need my desks, so I need to get them ready.

With most of the rest of my day I did laundry and played Tomb Raider. The latest one. Although I have several of the games, maybe all of them because they were bundled together, this was my first time playing any of them. And for the most part I am liking it. The camera is a little weird and it would be nice if they weren't going for the “realistic” wobbly feel. It's a third-person camera but it reminds me of when a first-person game wants it to feel realistic so they make the screen sway or move around a bunch as you're walking. Other than being super annoying, it is also pointless, because when you are walking around in the real world your brain compensates for all the moving you're doing and your vision isn't bumping around or swaying. At least when you're walking. But video game developers don't seem to get that. They make it so it is similar to when you physically jostle your eyeglasses around and your vision does move all over the place. Anyway, I'm liking the game so far and I am intrigued by the story. I want to know what is happening on this mysterious island.

Tomorrow, who really knows. There are so many things that I want to do and I'll probably end up doing very few of them. I'm interested to see how it turns out.
