I think my exhaustion is due to not sleeping well. The night before
last, and the night before that, it took me forever to fall asleep.
Last night I did better but then woke up around two o'clock in the
morning and it took me forever to get back to sleep. This morning I
woke up tired.
Today at work it was hot as hell. Give or take a few degrees. It
was about 98 degrees outside, 87 degrees on the cool side of
projection, and in the mid- to upper-90s on the warm side. The kind
of stagnant heat where even sitting in front of a weak fan doesn't
prevent sweating. It made for along day. When I got up to leave I
got really lightheaded and that feeling has persisted throughout the
night whenever I stand up. I'm not sure if that is heat related or
what.
Stuff happened at work despite the heat. The motor went out for the
exhaust fan on one of the projectors and we had to cancel a show.
They had someone there to fix is in about an hour. Certainly can't
do that for the air conditioner though. Can't have that.
I finished reading The Secret Of Zoom by
Lynne Jonell. I got it at the book fair and it is for kids but I
don't know if that should be a thing. It is for kids about as much
as the original Grimm's Fairy Tales. There is an evil man who has
enslaved a bunch of orphans so they can mine a special mineral called
zoom. It is highly explosive and at least one orphan died after an
explosion. It doesn't make it far enough in the story but we learn
that once the orphans have outlived their usefulness they will be put
into a garbage truck (which is how they are normally transported) and
then they will be smashed, because as they are repeatedly told by the
evil man and the guards, nobody loves them. The evil dude has also
kept his uncle an the protagonist's mother trapped in a mine for
years. It's pretty dark and twisted. Interesting concept though,
I'll give it that.
I spent most of my time at work
cross stitching. It doesn't really look like it but I made quite a
bit of progress, probably more than doubling the number of stitches I
did yesterday. I think it looks pretty good so far.
Tonight I pretty much just watched
YouTube videos and felt tired. It's about nine o'clock right now and
I think I'm going to try and go to bed. Nothing in the world sounds
better than sleep right now. A bold but momentarily truthful
statement.
