Today I was supposed to work from two o'clock to eight o'clock.
Around one o'clock they decided they only needed me from four o'clock
to six o'clock. An hour later it was decided that I wasn't needed.
So there went my plans for the day. The manager said he would
probably be getting rid of projection shifts for a little while and
wondered if I wanted some door shifts. I told him to give them to
people who needed the money for rent. I know that if I were
depending on the theater to pay rent and all my shifts were getting
cut I would be getting a little nervous. School starts in two weeks
and I should have enough money saved up to see me through until I
start getting that paycheck again. My shift on Thursday got cut back
to just going in and making sure everything was ready for Friday.
We'll see if that gets cut, too.
While at work I was going to work on a new crochet pattern, instead I
did that at home, unpaid unfortunately. A friend posted a Tunisian
(or Afghan) crochet stitch and it looked cool so I clicked on it. I
now know what long crochet hooks are used for. I got one years ago
with my grandma's collection of knitting needles and didn't have a
clue what its purpose was. It turns out, there are stitches, or at
least one stitch, where you keep the stitch on the hook as you work
your way to the left, and then pull it off as you work back to the
right, without ever turning the work. It is pretty cool. The
Tunisian stitch results in a very curled piece so anything made with
it needs to be blocked, something that I have never actually done but
have always been interested in trying.
So instead of working today, my day consisted of watching YouTube
videos and crocheting. I've had worse days. I've also had more
productive days but summer is almost over so I don't mind having some
lazy days.
I also tried a bit of Firefall
tonight. I free-to-play sci-fi MMO. I've been following it for
quite awhile and it was recently released. I signed up for the beta
a long time ago, and may have been invited at one point but never
actually played it. It is kind of fun but it really just made me
want to play Tera.
Tera looks better and
the world seemed more evolved. Granted, I didn't make it very far in
the Firefall world, so
maybe the enemies become more diverse the further you make it in the
game. I don't see myself playing much of Firefall,
possibly never again, but I would be interested in reading novels or
graphic novels about the world because that did interest me more than
Tera, which is a game
where I almost immediately lost track of the lore.
Tomorrow my mom, sister, and I are
going on a mini-roadtrip to see a man about carpet for the new house.
We're not exactly sure why we need to go out of town for this
because there are carpet places in town, but I think the realtor
recommended the guy so we're making the trip. We're going to go
early and have lunch and go shopping before meeting with the carpet
guy. Make a day of it.
