This morning I had to wake up early once again, this time for the
school district meeting at the high school. It was the first time I
have been in the high school since the renovation, and I only saw the
entry way, but it looks completely different. The meeting was in the
auditorium, which is the only thing in the building they didn't
change, so that wasn't very exciting. The meeting itself, minus the
marriage proposal, was incredibly boring, especially when the
superintendent got up and spoke for over thirty minutes. He was
throwing around all of these numbers and figures that were
interesting but I would have preferred to see them in a bullet point
format in an email that I could look over on my own time. The
librarian and para sitting next to me had a bet going on how long he
was going to talk because being boring and verbose are apparently his
thing. And the third grade teacher in front of me had an apple with
a styrofoam cup for a hat, which she was drawing eyes and nose on to
give the apple various faces. I nearly fell asleep and I think I
would have felt the same even if I had gotten a full night of sleep.
The marriage proposal was kind of cool. A lady called up all the
ESOL teachers in the district to recognize their hard work but kept
one of them up on stage after sending the others back to their seats.
And then her soon-to-be fiance came out from back stage with a rose
and the audience (at least 80% women) started getting excited as soon
as they saw him walk out. Then he got down on one knee and the place
erupted and everyone stood up and she said yes. Thank God she said
yes.
When I got home from the meeting I tried to take a nap but the dogs
kept randomly barking so I was unable to get anywhere near a sleeping
state. So instead I burned some DVDs for my friend and did other
stuff that I am completely blanking on.
Tonight I once again went out to the bars. How I love the bars. One
of my other high school friends had come into town so we all went
out. The initial plan was to be done by midnight because my one
friend had to leave in the morning and my other friend wasn't
interested in getting drunk, but we ended up not leaving until two
o'clock. Early in the night we met up with our former coworker
again, that we met at karaoke the other night, and went back to the
basement bar. Mainly because my friend wanted to pay back my
friend's boyfriend, the bartender, who took a $0.50 loss on his tab
the other night. He wasn't working but a short time after getting
there he stopped by for a drink so my friend was able to clear his
conscience.
From there we went over to the country bar because my other friend
wanted to meet up with a girl that he has had a thing for since high
school, and she has had one for him, but the timing has never worked
out. Like now because my friend is living with his girlfriend. But
we met up with her anyway. At one point she wanted a picture with my
friend and everyone tried to make sure it didn't happen because my
friend didn't really need a picture of him on Facebook with a girl he
has had a thing for since high school. First my other friends tried
to take the phone and take random pictures of their arms. And then
our former coworker friend kept “accidentally” closing out of the
camera on the phone but she could only claim drunken stumbling for so
long. While at this bar I also ran into another former coworker who
I haven't seen in years. He is the one who's cousin is currently a
para at the school I work at. I don't think I have seen him since he
left the theater but he still remembered a lot about me which says a
lot for his memory.
We then migrated to another bar and ended the night there, just
relaxing and talking because thankfully the music wasn't too loud.
By this point it was after midnight and I was tired and didn't really
want to be there in the first place because bars aren't my thing, but
I want to hang out with my friends when they are in town. And
eventually last call came around and I was able to go home and sleep.
