I got to sleep in a little bit this morning but still got less than
six hours of sleep. Around 9:30 by friend stopped by to pick me up,
then we went and picked up our other friend before heading up to the
high school for the reunion tour of the renovations. I would say
about twenty people from our class showed up, most with their
significant others, out of the several hundred in our class, which is
a pretty pitiful turnout. And I only briefly talked to a couple
people because I didn't really talk to any of those people when I was
in high school and I don't really care what they're up to now. No
offense to them but I don't care and I think they probably feel the
same way. As for the renovated high school, it was so strange. A
lot of stuff has the same basic shape so you can kind of see what it
used to be like but at the same time it is all completely different.
When I was there the walls were all red brick and there was carpet
over most of the hallways. Now all the walls are cinder blocks
painted white and all the floors are shiny concrete. It all looked
very sterile. And I imagine the place is loud as hell with all those
hard surfaces when school is in session. They also built on quite a
bit, adding in new hallways, extending others, and adding in another
floor. The place is huge now and passing periods are still just five
minutes. And if you have classes on the opposite side of the
building there is no way you could get there in five minutes without
running, especially when the place is filled with kids.
When we passed by the new kitchen area and they were talking about
open and closed lunch, I mentioned to my friend how we always went to
Little Caesars. Which then planted that idea in his head so after
the tour we went to Little Caesars and the three of us all got
breadsticks. Delicious breadsticks. Not really a healthy lunch in
any way but it brought on the nostalgia and the breadsticks are
delicious.
I tried taking a nap when I got home and that was once again a
failure. So I went to Target to buy a travel size thing of
toothpaste because that was the only thing I was missing. And when I
got home I started doing laundry. That took most of the afternoon
and then I was able to pack for the trip to Colorado tomorrow. I'll
be flying back Tuesday so I am able to fit everything I need in my
backpack which is convenient. It will be easier carrying that around
that rolling around a small suitcase. And it will be easier to cram
it into the overhead compartment on the plane. I made a short list
of things I won't be able to pack until the morning and I am crossing
my fingers that I have remembered everything. I probably haven't but
as long as I'm close enough I think I can survive a couple days.
The plan now is to leave at 7:00AM which is going to suck a little
bit because all I want is to sleep in one more time before school
starts but that doesn't seem to be a thing I can accomplish. I just
hope I can fall asleep at a decent time tonight. Because I am
currently not feeling particularly tired.
