Today I was at work all day. Well, at least most of the day. From
11:45AM to 12:45AM, with an hour break for lunch. I should have been
there until 1:00AM but the managers decided to send me home early. I
always love being sent home fifteen minutes early. There really is
no point being sent home early that close to the end of the night. I
was about to go around and shut off the projectors for the movies
that were over and after that I probably would have had only a few
minutes for the last movie to drop. I guess it's the thought that
counts.
Most of my day was spent reading the book club book, which I came
within eighty pages of finishing. And I would have finished it but I
also read some of Scientific American,
an issue I bought at least a couple months ago and never got around
to reading. It is on the origin of humans and what makes us humans.
There are a lot of interesting articles in it. One thing that I
learned was a leading theory on skin pigmentation. It is believed
that dark, pigmented skin came along about 1.6 million years ago,
which coincides with humans becoming relatively hairless. The
thought being that without the hair to protect us from the sun,
humans developed dark skin as protection.
Now I am going to sleep. I have
reached that level of tired where my blinks are turning into tiny
naps and my mind is finding it hard to remember that I actually
possess the ability to create words in coherent sentences. Sleeping
in is going to be amazing and I have been looking forward to it all
week.
