I had a somewhat productive day. I reinstalled Windows 7 on my
computer. That took a bit of work because when I tried to run the
installation CD via autoplay, I kept getting a message saying files
were missing. The same happened when I tried doing it through the
Advanced Recovery option. Eventually I think I had to boot from the
CD or something. I can't remember. But I got it to work. Then I
spent awhile getting things back to normal. Downloading programs,
updating drivers, figuring out my settings. I eventually got it back
to how I like it.
Then I tried setting up Avermedia's Live Gamer Portable. That was a
complete failure. It took forever to get the driver. I kept getting
errors, even though it said everything installed fine. The blue
circle on the LGP just kept spinning, indicating it was still lacking
a driver. Eventually that was solved but I still can't record PC
gameplay with it. The software didn't seem to want to notice the LGP
and whenever I tried the record option the software would freeze. I
got the LGP because it is supposed to capture PC gameplay and I
figured it would be easier than the workaround I used for the Elgato
(which isn't supposed to record PC gameplay. It is frustrating.
I've started a thread on the forums and I'll give that a few days but
if I can't get it worked out I'll just send it back. The Elgato
works fine for console gameplay and I can kind of get it to work for
PC gameplay.
At work I came within a few pages of finishing The Book Of The
Dead. I would have finished it
but I ended up getting to go home at eleven o'clock, rather than one
o'clock. And I was starting to get a headache from reading for five
hours. The only eventful thing from the night was having to cancel
the first show of Jurassic Park 3D
because the projector wasn't working. When I walked by the touch
screen on the projector, used to select aspect ratio and turn the
bulb on and off, wasn't on. I restarted the projector and that
didn't help. The managers tried unplugging and re-plugging the power
cord but that didn't work. I asked about the other end of the power
cord, inside the projector, but no one made an attempt to open the
projector up to look. The manager called the tech guys and they had
him open the projector up and check the power cord. Which ended up
being a tad loose. Had I taken the initiative to open up the
projector we probably could have had the first showing, but the
managers could have also made an attempt to take a look.
When I got home I continued working
on the LGP thing but made absolutely no progress. There is always
tomorrow.
