Lazy Sundays are back in full force, complete with naps. I got over
eight hours of sleep last night so I wasn't even tired but sometimes
it is just nice to lay in bed and listen to music with your eyes
closed and think about things. This does lead to drifting off every
now and then but I'm totally cool with that. Today's musical choice
was Gregory Porter and I thought about all the random things.
Speaking of random. And Sleep. I had a dream last night that I was
getting married in the computer lab at school. The computer were all
gone and the tables were covered in table cloths and it looked like a
church basement. For some reason I was going to play the bagpipes
and it seemed like I was being coached by someone who could actually
play them because I never had before. Unfortunately I woke up before
I found out who I was actually marrying. And even sadder, I didn't
get a chance to play the bagpipes because I woke up as I was filling
the bag with air. Now we'll never know how awful that was going to
turn out. It is probably for the best though because the computer
lab is way too small of an environment for the loud sounds of
bagpipes.
I played piano today and worked through the third page of the song.
It is kind of memorized but not fully, and I can't play it all to
speed, but I made progress. I also noticed I had been playing the
last bar of the second page wrong, so I have fixed that and am
working on getting the muscle memory to remember it.
I also messed around with my video editing software a little bit. I
found out I have a title plug-in for it so I'll be able to do a cool
title screen for the slideshow. I looked through the different
styles and templates and effects and I am going to spend some time in
my head now, figuring out what I want the title screen to say and how
I want it to look. Then maybe sometime this week I can actually
build it and start throwing in some of the slides I have made so I
can work on transitions. Unlike all the time I have spent on
spreadsheets and student databases and whatever else, hopefully this
will be a project that actually looks like I have put some time and
effort into it.
I haven't played a video game in awhile. I can't even remember the
last time. I kind of burned myself out after playing BF4
almost everyday for a month. And I came close to playing that today
because the new DLC is finally out on PC, but then I didn't. I am
really good at coming close to playing video games. Instead, I
downloaded and finally played Spelunky.
That is a game I have wanted to play for a really long time, but
never enough to actually pay full price for it. According to my
Steam purchase history, it looks like I eventually bought it at a
deep discount during the Christmas sale. And then like most of my
Steam games, never got around to playing it. Until today. And it
was fun. Even though I am awful at it. I think the farthest I made
it was three or four levels. I've seen better.
Now I am watching Jeff
Beck: Live at Ronnie Scott's. I
remember watching it years ago and it happened to be on after I
watching Storytellers
with Death Cab For Cutie. It is a really good performance. And the
bass player is a badass. She is a year younger than me and she is a
world-renowned bass player, playing with legends. Ridiculous.
It is already after 10:30PM, and I
just finished writing my monthly report for my volunteer thing, but
thanks to my lazy day taking naps, I'm not tired. And I'm not going
to pretend I am because I don't want to end up spending half the
night laying awake in bed. Even though that will probably end up
happening anyway.
