This morning we had one scheduled test and then a make-up session
that was utilized by kids from both of the fourth grade classes.
That lasted most of the morning. With my remaining time before lunch
I worked on editing pictures. I think. I can't really remember.
This afternoon there was a MAP test right after lunch and then I had
the last couple of hours in the day to work on yearbook stuff. After
the test I went to check if the second kindergarten class was coming
to the lab. It turns out they weren't but I got to see the last five
minutes of the original Lorax
movie. With my new-found free time, I borrow the one kindergartener
who I didn't have a picture of, and got her picture for the yearbook.
I told her to smile big and got a very small smile. I tried again
and got even less of a smile so I called it good. I also went and
got the missing fourth grader, and eventually got the new sixth
grader. With all of those taken I was able to edit them and get them
in the yearbook. They actually don't look too bad. I also finished
making all the edits that teacher's caught. There were several more
misspellings than last year when I typed all the names in myself. Go
figure. A good reason why trusting technology is not always wise.
Or trusting whoever at Lifetouch typed all the names into their
database.
I also scanned and edited a few more
sixth grade baby pictures. Tomorrow or sometime I need to make the
slide for that student as well as edit and make the slides for a
couple other students who's pictures I have in my email. But that
was pretty much my day. Testing and yearbook stuff.
Tonight was Chipotle night, which
was delicious, and the YouTube videos I showed went over well. Then
I went and had a visit with the new volunteer kid. A whole
forty-five minute visit. I can't even remember the last visit we
had. It's been awhile. We went to McDonald's for most of the visit
and talked about his future. He plans on graduating at semester next
December, getting out of the system, moving to the town where he
currently goes to high school (maybe), and go to a vo-tech school to
learn welding. He would prefer to get a job working on cars but he
would take whatever job he could get. He definitely sounds like he
has a plan but I think things will be slightly more difficult than he
thinks. Mostly the getting out of the system part and being on his
own thing. But he still has a lot of time to figure things out and
hopefully I can help him.
When I got home I watched YouTube
videos, very briefly played Tera,
and looked a pictures of cool bookcases and libraries. I also made a
few edits to the yearbook candid pages. Really I would like to
tweak the layout of each of the candid pages because there really
isn't any cohesion to them. Some pages have pictures at different
angles with pictures overlapping, while other pages just have all
straight pictures with spaces between all the pictures. It is kind
of annoying. I moved a few pictures around, and added a picture to
one of the staff candid pages because I liked it and it wasn't added
in. Anyway, that bit of editing has kept me past my bedtime. That
is going to suck for me in the morning. And will suck even more when
I am stuck at the theater until at least one o'clock in the morning.
So I'm going to stop typing now and go to bed.
