I am really looking forward to going back to work on Monday so I will
have something new to write about. For at least the first couple of
days. Two weeks off is far too long when nothing productive is being
done.
A new pair of headphones arrived in the mail today. I am back in the
headphone game and I decided to expedite the process by ordering
three different pairs. The first to show up was the Siberia V2 by
SteelSeries. My first impressions could be better. The padding
isn't quite thick enough so my left ear is squished a bit, just like
the last headphones I tried. Damn my left ear. I will blame my
glasses because they feel fine when I take my glasses off. But I can
also only see about a foot without my glasses and my monitors are
about four feet away. So the glasses stay. Also with the new
headphones, I have to go in and manually switch the sound from my
speakers to the headphones when I want to switch between the two.
That gets tedious. And lastly, they get hot pretty quickly. I think
part of that is the left ear being crushed thing. The crushing and
the heat make the headphones very noticeable on my head. Soundwise,
I am liking them. I liked the Audio Technica pair better in terms of
sound but these aren't bad. But both suffer from not being terribly
comfortable. The Audio Technica pair got sent back and the
SteelSeries will more than likely go the same way. The next pair
should be here on Monday, hopefully, and the third may show up
sometime later in the week or the week after. All I ask for are ear
cups with enough padding that my left ear doesn't get crushed against
the speaker. And decent sound quality. Not too much to ask for when
it comes to headphones.
It started snowing again today and I got to drive to work with about
an inch on the ground and more coming down. By the time I got off
work I had the pleasure of clearing off two or three inches of snow
from my car. Such a delight. Thankfully there wasn't ice underneath
it so it was pretty much just brushing the snow off. It was a lot
better than the last snow, both in terms of clearing it off my car
and driving through it. As for work itself, I did the same thing I
did last night. Reading books with a little bit of Animal
Crossing mixed in for good
measure.
When I got home I had a nice phone
conversation with my friend and then played a round of Battlefield
4. I played a bit earlier in
the day and got completely stomped on. At the moment my K/D is 0.36.
Ouch. Thankfully the Battlefield
franchise is more about playing the objective (PTFO) than getting a
high K/D. That doesn't really excuse a 0.36 K/D but whatever. The
round I played tonight was actually pretty decent. Not really when
you look at my score but I wreaked some havoc and did a good job of
defending the objectives.
Tomorrow is the last day of the too
long two week winter break. And it will be just as unproductive as
the rest of break. I thought about going out and running some
errands but then it started snowing today. So there is that.
