January 4, 2015

This morning I was wide awake before six o'clock but I refused to wake up that early on the last day of winter break, so I went back to sleep. I think I ended up getting out of bed around ten o'clock. Then I unpacked all the stuff I loaded my car up with last night. I'm sick of moving heavy boxes. When I was done with that I started my laundry and eventually got around to having lunch.

Much like waking up early, I really didn't want to go back over to the old house today but it is something that has to be done. It was a little after three o'clock when I headed over there, slightly delayed by Tanner having a minor seizure. When I got over to the house I went down to the basement and looked through yet another box of books with my mom and sister. I didn't realize just how many books we had in that house. So many freaking books. When I left the house before dinner I loaded my car up with the clothes from my closet. One more step in slowly getting all the stuff out of the house.

After dinner I was feeling super tired. I don't know that it was so much dinner related as it was making several trips up and down the stairs carrying clothes. When I was done with that I tried to play a little Fantasy Life but was more concerned with falling asleep so I watched The Twilight Zone instead. And now I'm watching the latest episode of The Librarians. While I continue watching that I'm going to give Fantasy Life another try. I'll probably get stuck in the main story again but who knows. I still need to pick another Life. One of the crafting ones because I think crafting stuff will be fun.

January 3, 2015

I actually got to work a full shift at work today. I read a little bit about Van Gogh but spent most of my day playing Fantasy Life. There are large chunks of the game where you're just reading text and I had a lot of that today. Nothing against it, because they are telling their story, but it does get a bit tiring having to hit 'A' to make the text fully appear (not slowly appear, typewriter-style) and then 'A' again to move to the next screen of text. And then accidentally hitting 'A' and missing something but being unable to go back and also kind of not caring because you want it to be over. But I'm still enjoying the game and I'm looking forward to choosing another Life when I max out the Angler Life.

After work I went to the old house so I could check internet things and load up my car with a bunch of my crap that I couldn't manage to part with. All stuff that will now be cluttering up the new house. Hooray. While I was loading stuff it started to snow. It was real slow at first but by the time I was done loading and ready to leave, there was a fine layer of snow on the ground and I had to scrape my windshield because it was already frozen over. And I had just buried my ice scrapers under a pile of crap so I had to dig one out first.

When I got home I made another one of the pasta with seasonings that I got for Christmas. This one had a vegetable seasoning and it wasn't hot like the last one but it also didn't have much flavor. I'll need to come up with a way to remedy that.

I spent the rest of my night watching TV and playing Fantasy Life. Shocker. I watched several episodes of Mike & Molly and Archer, a show I really like but apparently missed an entire season of, at least. Lana was pregnant, Pam lost a lot of weight, and Cheryl was a Country music star. I'll need to play catch-up at some point.

In Fantasy Life I attained the rank of a Hero angler. With this came a cool whale hat. When you first start the game as an angler you are wearing a green fish hat. Although that was really cool, I stopped wearing it as soon as I got something that offered better stats. At the moment, I can continue wearing the cool blue whale hat because it offers a much better stat boost than anything else I have. Hopefully that remains to be the case. I also think I am nearing the end of the main story. Maybe. I don't really have any idea but it feels like I'm getting close. I just got the last goddess treasure and I think I'm close to going to Lunares. At least I'm assuming that is the next step, after the meeting between the four cities. We'll see what happens. Possibly tomorrow.

In general, I'm not a big fan of goldfish crackers. I think they taste kind of weird. At least they do in my memory because I haven't had them in forever because I remember them tasting weird. That being said, I recently discovered that parmesan cheese goldfish crackers are delicious. I'm usually not a big fan of parmesan cheese, much like regular goldfish crackers, but together they work.

Once again this morning I had absolutely no motivation to get out of bed. I lost track of how many times I woke up and then laid around until I fell back to sleep. I did eventually get up, though, around eleven o'clock. I wish I could do that without feeling the guilt of avoiding cleaning out the old house. That whole business is kind of ruining the last week of winter break. Work can't start fast enough.

For lunch I had a peanut butter and apple butter. I ran out of biscuits for the apple butter and for toast I'd have to dig out the toaster and go through that whole thing. So I think I'm going to start using the apple butter on my peanut butter sandwiches. It works. Much like the parmesan goldfish crackers I referenced earlier.

Despite my afternoon arrival to the old house, in the literal sense of arriving shortly after noon, I made a lot of progress today. I went through the clothes in my closet, picking out the ones I definitely wouldn't wear again. Then I moved almost everything out of my room so I could take down all the posters on my walls and ceiling. I moved everything after I took the first poster off the ceiling because of the incredible amount of dust present on the top of the poster. Turns out it really accumulates after many many years of being on a ceiling. So I moved everything out and covered up my computer. I have ingested so much dust in the past week. After I got all the posters down I took them outside so I could wipe off all the dust before rolling them up.

I left the house a little before five o'clock so I could head home and eat dinner before heading to work. When I got to work I walked the shows and fixed the lens on a couple shows where the patrons had watched almost the entire movie with the movie small on the screen because the scope lens wasn't down. One reason projectionists are still kind of important. Or at least an attentive manager.

I went down to manually close the curtains in one of the theaters that was showing a flat movie but the curtains were stuck open, like for a scope movie. And then all the other movies started getting out so I volunteered to stay downstairs and help clean, even though they probably could have gotten along without me. Then I went back upstairs and started reading my Van Gogh book until I started to nod off, at which point I switched to Fantasy Life.

When all of the movies had started I went down to use the bathroom and ended up being sent home because we were slow. We've been super busy all week but on the day I work we're dead. But I didn't really mind being sent home at eight o'clock because I was tired.

I spent the rest of my night watching Modern Family and playing Fantasy Life, with a short break to talk to my friend on the phone. He was on his way to see a movie and was telling me about all the places he'll be traveling in the coming weeks. He leads a much more active life than I do. And that doesn't even include the flying around in badass jets part.

Tomorrow I open at the theater and we should be busier but who the hell knows if I'll get sent home early or not. If I am sent home that will mean more time at the old house, something I'm not necessarily looking forward to. I need to start loading stuff up and unloading it at the new house. Not looking forward to that.

January 1, 2015

The first day of the new year and it feels just like all of my recent days, in the groundhog day that has become my Christmas break. I was a little slower getting over to the old house but I eventually made it, not too long after noon. Then it was more of the same. I dug stuff out of my closet and came across a pair of Chucks I bought years ago to wear at one of my college graduations but ended up not liking them. They had super long maroon laces and a bunch of extra holes for the laces along the sides of the shoes. They looked cooler online and I ended up going with green or blue Chucks, depending on what graduation was. Well, today I pulled out the maroon laces and laced them up with regular laces, one black and one white to see which looked better, and they didn't look too bad. All the extra holes are a little odd but they grow on you, although I might need to wear black socks with them. At the time I think I also thought they were too big but they actually aren't. All my other Chucks have holes in them and are definitely on their last legs so I might start wearing the closet ones.

I ended my day at the old house down in the basement with my mom looking through books. I knew that I had over 800 books in my room but kind of forgot about all the books I had growing up. They ended up in boxes down in the basement and it is like a walk down memory lane. We went to library book sales when I was a kid and always bought Scholastic books in school through the fliers and the book fair. I think it's awesome how many books we have. One of the rooms in the old house definitely should have been devoted to books. I could use that at the new house too. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with all of mine. The amount of shelves I need would be incredibly expensive. I'll figure it out eventually. Maybe just a bunch of Rubbermaid containers that I can organize somehow.

Tonight was going to be Chipotle night but when I got down there they were closed. I don't quite understand being closed on New Years day. I get closing early on the eve but I don't get January 1st. Instead we had Sonic and I also finished up the last of my pasta. That pasta had turned into a bit of an abusive relationship. It mostly hurt me but I kept coming back for more.

I spent the rest of my night playing Fantasy Life and watching TV. I watched Hot Fuzz, which is still a great movie, and then several episodes of The Twilight Zone. The SyFy channel had a marathon of the show all day long. All classic episodes from the sixties. I'm a fan.

It's midnight now but tomorrow I would like to wake up relatively early so I can go back over to the old house and get some work done before I have to go to the theater. I don't work until the evening but I need all the time I can get over there.

December 31, 2014

Another day spent at the old house. I didn't make it over until around noon and only put in around four hours of work but stuff got done. I finished the shelves by my computer and my desk. Also pretty much finished going through stuff downstairs. I still need to weed out a bunch of stuff. It's time to make the hard choices and start throwing/giving away more stuff. That will start tomorrow hopefully.

I looked forward to spending my night watching TV and playing Fantasy Life. And that is what I did for most of the night. I was going to watch the Doctor Who marathon but I ended up getting stuck on a Mike & Molly marathon. I only just recently saw the show for the first time and I enjoy it. In my game, I got a new pet, a bird, and caught a whole bunch of fish, while advancing the story a little bit and leveling up a few times.

A little before 10:30PM my friend texted me and said his girlfriend wanted to go out so he was going to come pick me up. Around 10:45PM we headed to a bar, one on this side of town because the usual ones on the other side of town would have been completely nuts with New Years stuff. The bar we went to was kind of busy but not packed. It still took almost fifteen minutes for my friend and his girlfriend to get a drink, which seemed a bit excessive. My friend and I spent awhile playing shuffle board, I think that is what it's called, and it was pretty fun. I wasn't very good at it but it was still fun. Better than just sitting or standing around doing nothing. Regardless, our time eventually ran out on the table and my friend's girlfriend's interest in gong out quickly went away so we ended up leaving the bar about five minutes before midnight. Personally, I would have waited at least until midnight but whatever. I got to go back home and play my game again. And watch The A-Team. It is apparently an extended edition because there have been several scenes that I've never seen before.

Last night I hung out with my friend and her boyfriend. Tonight I hung out with my friend and his girlfriend. In neither instance did I feel like a third wheel but it did make my lack of a relationship more apparent. I would say that should be my New Years resolution but I really don't want to put any time into that. I've got school to worry about. Although I'm also not getting any younger so I should probably attempt to juggle.

December 30, 2014

This morning I woke up early. That was rough. It didn't help that the dogs were going through a thing and spent the morning growling at each other because breakfast didn't go so well. Tanner is an asshole and Beau wouldn't let it go and kept growling. After all of that I was actually glad to be leaving the house and going over to the old house to work on my room.

It isn't entirely obvious but I made a lot of progress today. I finished filling one large black trash bag and nearly filled a second. I continued working on the shelf that was at the foot of my bed, worked through all the stuff that was under my bed, and almost finished the shelf next to my computer. I'm keeping way too much crap, though. When I'm done with the initial sorting, I'm going to go back through the “keep” stuff and try to narrow it down even more. I don't want the new house to become as cluttered as the old one. Fingers crossed on that one.

I ended up working until dinner. I added the rest of the alfredo sauce to my pasta and the spiciness got better. I still felt it in the back of my throat but it was better on my tongue. After dinner I may or may not have taken a brief nap and played a little Fantasy Life before heading over to my friend's new place to watch Dexter with her and her boyfriend. It has been forever since we watched it, and according to her Netflix account we had made it through the first five episodes of the seventh season. I think her boyfriend was only halfway through the second episode of that season so we ended up starting there. We watched two episodes and it didn't take me long to remember them. Not the little details but the main plot points. So we didn't actually make any progress in terms of finishing the series, but it was still an enjoyable night. Before and in between episodes we had some good conversations. I don't get to have good conversations with people often enough. For Christmas my friend got me a small 3D train model made out of metal that I need to assemble at some point. It has got a lot of tiny parts so it is going to take awhile to finish. But it'll look pretty cool when I get it finished.

It is now two o'clock in the morning so I might not get up as early in the morning but I would like to make it over to the house before lunch. My friend is coming to town tomorrow and I'm not sure when so I'd like to get at least a little work done before possibly hanging out with him.

December 29, 2014

Another short entry because my days are boring and all the same. This morning I did laundry, knitted, and watched Doctor Who. This afternoon I went back over to the old to continue going through my room. Long ago I shoved a science fair, tri-fold poster in front of the top shelf of my closet so I could cram that shelf with a bunch of crap and not worry about it falling down. For the first time since grade school or middle school, whenever I did that, I pulled the poster down and went through stuff. I found my baseball cap collection, which is a thing I used to collect. I think I got into it because my grandpa had several hats on a hanging thing on his wall when I was a kid. I don't even think I wore most of the hats I got but good grief do I have a lot of them. Most of which I will be getting rid of because I don't really wear hats anymore. I also found a lot of my stuffed animals from when I was a kid and some other random stuff.

When I left the old house I forgot my phone but didn't realize it until I got back to the new house. After dinner I went back to get it and stopped to get a Powerball ticket along the way. As for dinner, I tried to make the spicy pasta a little more bearable by adding some alfredo sauce to it. It helped a tiny bit. A very tiny bit. I liked the taste of it but I'm still not a fan of the spicy.

Tonight I listened to music, knitted, and played Fantasy Life. Most of the music listening was taken up by the countdown for the year and a Foo Fighters concert on Alt Nation on SiriusXM. I forgot about the concert the first time it was broadcast earlier in the month and only caught the last bit of it. This time I got to listen to the whole thing, which was nice. As for Fantasy Life, I progressed the storyline briefly but spent most of my time wandering around and fishing. I unlocked the next town so I went around the tropical areas and caught new types of fishes. The next time I play I'll have to go back to the storyline and keep that going.
