Let's start with the good news.
Tanner didn't crap in the basement today. Or anywhere else in the
house. Since dinner last night he has been switched over to a diet
of rice and hamburger, which we'll say is helping.
Today at work was relatively
uneventful. There was a couple from Australia in the library all day
giving various demonstrations so I sat in on one of those, but the
rest of the day was typical. I had classes in the lab, helped out
with literacy centers in kindergarten, scanned and editing baby
pictures, helped a couple third graders put YouTube videos in their
PowerPoint presentations, and I think that's about it.
The best story of the day came from
one of the second grade teachers who had to go home and change before
school started because she was walking down the hall with a stack of
stuff in her arms and spilled her cup of coffee all over her pants.
She said the bright side was that her pants pretty much caught all of
it so there wasn't a mess on the floor. Gotta think positive.
After work I went to Chipotle and
bought a Powerball ticket. I drove with the windows down despite the
wind being completely ridiculous. It was pretty breezy recently but
today easily topped that. Just an observation.
When I got home, as noted earlier, I
didn't have to clean up crap, so I read half of an article before
dinner. Dinner went well and then I spent the rest of the night
finishing the first article and reading a second. I know know more
about information retrieval protocols and the history of electronic
resource management. I've already forgotten most of it but I read
about them, and that's got to count for something.
Immediately after dinner, before I
got back into the reading, I logged into a class meeting. Turns out
the professor wasn't covering any new material, though, it was just
her normal office hours. And no one else was there so I went ahead
and asked her if my idea to make my tutorial over Canva was a good
idea. And by good I mean an acceptable topic that will get me a good
grade. She liked the idea, so now I just need to make the video.
She said tomorrow she will be posting a video tutorial about how to
make a tutorial, so I'll give that a watch before attempting mine
just in case she says something obvious that never occurred to me.
My professor mentioned that her
power had gone out briefly due to the wind today and then we got on
the topic of fires. There were a couple around here today and she
said several days ago someone had driven along an old highway down by
her and started sixteen individual fires. People are idiots.
Especially those who pick a really dry, windy day to burn their
field. Tonight when the moon was up I went out and looked at it with
my mom and sister because it was orange due to the smoke. Depending
on the coverage it ranged from a light orange to a really dark
reddish orange. It was really pretty but it also lead to a thought.
A single person, in this case most likely an idiot, has the power to
completely alter how an entire town witnesses the Moon, which if you
weren't aware, is a giant object floating in space. That is a lot of
power for one idiot.
Soon I'll be going to bed under my
desk again. It is after eleven o'clock and I didn't get around to
putting my bed back together. Soon. Tomorrow I'm volunteering at
the public library after work. After dinner I need to do school
things. The end of the week is creeping up on me and I've still got
to figure out what I'm going to write a paper about, along with all
the other things. No pressure.
