I was late to bed last night and
early to rise this morning because the dish guy was coming to give us
cable. Originally he was coming between 8:00AM and 12:00PM. That
was then refined to 8:45AM. And then it was even later because five
minutes away turned into closer to twenty or thirty minutes because
he got lost. His GPS didn't have the street. No surprise there
considering we don't exist to the cable company either.
He set up a temporary pole outside
to put the dish on and someone will come around in the next week or
so to put in the real thing, that way it won't have to be attached to
the house. He was also able to connect to the cable already on the
outside of the house so he didn't need to drill any holes or run any
cable. That sped up the process quite a bit. It still took over two
hours and a lot of that was updating and setting up the wireless
receivers. Rather than picking the four rooms we wanted wired we
went with a wireless option for the three rooms other than the living
room so in the future if we change our mind, we can just move the
wireless receiver to that room. Now we just need the internet.
After the dish guy left I had lunch
and then went down to my room to work on my reflective journal entry.
I ended up finding an easy listening music channel on TV and taking
a nap. And then I worked on my reflective journal entry. I made a
little progress and was able to finish it up after dinner. I ended
with a bit of a rant about Amazon offering a monthly subscription for
ebooks. Like a library that you have to pay for. People act like it
is a great thing when they could just go to the library for free. My
suggestion is a campaign, kind of “Got Milk?”, to remind people
that libraries exist and they offer a lot of what Amazon offers but
they do it for free.
Tonight was Chipotle night and for
the first time in awhile they actually listened to me when I asked
for extra rice and beans. And then I got sofritas on top of that so
my burrito was humongous. That would have been nice on a week that
didn't include Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving leftovers.
After dinner I showed my sister
LEGO: Pirates of the Caribbean because
she was looking at Little Big Planet
and saw the LEGO games
recommended and wondered what they were like. Luckily I happened to
have a few of the games downloaded on my laptop. She played that for
a little bit and then I showed her my latest Minecraft
world and letter her play around in that for awhile. Her run ended
in death by zombie while I was having her move some meat down to her
hotbar. Thankfully I have keepInventory on so I didn't need to worry
about making it all the way back to the far off island we had
traveled to.
I ended my night by clicking around
the internet and watching YouTube videos. Not a bad way to spend a
night, in my opinion.
Tomorrow I will be attempting to
participate in Thanksgiving for the first time. My contribution is
going to be Brussels sprouts. I haven't made them in quite awhile
and my main concern is that I am going to try and make them in the
toaster oven I got from my grandma's house. I've never used a
toaster oven before. I think it will go alright but even if it
doesn't, the meal isn't dependent on the outcome of my Brussels
sprouts, so the world isn't going to end or anything.
