Here's to a quick entry because it is way too late and I am way too
tired.
This morning there was more testing. It went fairly smoothly minus
one kid testing out of the lab not being able to get into the test at
first. The principal ended up figuring out that the access code they
were trying to use was for the math test and the kid was trying to
take the writing test. It would be nice if there was one daily
access code for everything but no, we have to have a different code
not only for the test subject but also grade level. Good grief.
This afternoon I got a response from my professor saying I could use
her as a reference for my scholarship essay, and I got the okay from
the principal as well, so I sent my application and essay off to be
judged. I got a response from the lady I sent it to, saying she had
received it and that they would be reviewing applications in March.
I will probably forget all about it by then.
When I didn't have classes in the lab this afternoon I worked on
editing sixth grade baby pictures. And there might have been
something else in there too but it's not coming to mind. At the end
of the day I went up to the new sixth grade teacher's room because
this morning before work she said she was having some kind of issue.
I went up and found out it had to due with the color on the projector
being different than what was showing on the laptop it was connected
to. Most noticeably anything red showed up as black. My first
thought went back to the ESL projector from a few months ago so I
looked at the VGA cord. It looked fine at the computer so I looked
where it is plugged into the wall and saw that it was slightly
crooked. As soon as I straightened it back out and pushed it back
in, tightening the screws, red became red again. Hooray for the
simple fixes.
Tonight I feel like I mostly wasted time. I kind of wanted to write
my report for the librarian interview because that is due Sunday. I
read through my interviewee's responses, looked back at the previous
ones I have written to jog my memory, and watched the twenty-four
minute video that professor made explaining the assignment. And then
I couldn't even start my first sentence. That means that tomorrow
will most likely be taken up entirely by writing that report because
I'm going to drag it out way longer than I should.
As a compromise with myself I was decided to read some of the
material on copyright that was assigned this week. I read about a
couple different court cases so that's better than nothing. Tomorrow
or Sunday I'll need to finish the rest of the reading and then go
through a tutorial so I can take a quiz over it. I foresee that
happening Sunday but who knows. Maybe I'll actually wake up with
enough time before lunch tomorrow, and enough motivation, to knock
out a rough draft of my interview report. Then I could work on the
copyright stuff in the afternoon. I'm not holding my breath, though,
because I'm freaking tired now and the thought of writing a report
isn't great motivation to get out of bed in the morning.
When I wasn't working on school stuff I played a little more of
Crashlands, because I'm addicted. I mainly farmed resources
so I could build a few new things and played through the next quest
in the main storyline.
I also started messing around with Hexels, a drawing program I bought
a few days ago. I saw it on Steam and then fell down the rabbit hole
of looking at all the different things that have been drawn in it. I
was mostly intrigued by being able to draw tiny little rooms that are
angled so they look 3D. I think it would be cool to do a series of
tiny rooms that show scenes from a library. I also want to see if I
can come up with a cool design to maybe use as a background for the
sixth grade slide show, or maybe just a new desktop wallpaper. After
drawing my first little room I also played around with drawing little
cubes in Braille. I have some ideas for that.
Now it is one o'clock in the morning and I need to go to bed so I can
hopefully wake up early enough tomorrow to accomplish something
before lunch. In reality I see myself waking up late, doing nothing
before lunch, procrastinating all afternoon, and finally writing my
report after dinner. Saving the copyright stuff for Sunday. Having
said that, I would like to avoid it. I want to play with Hexels more
and maybe try and get into building in the Unreal Engine again, both
of which I will feel guilty about doing if it is only to avoid
schoolwork. Anyway, bed time.
