I keep typing 'Mary' in stead of
'May'. Not sure why that is happening because I have no reason to be
typing 'Mary'. I can't even think of the last time I needed to type
'Mary'. Odd.
Today happened. I tested from
8:45AM to 11:55AM. It sucked. It started with a fourth grade class,
which was overlapped by a couple second graders and some fifth
graders I think. Then sixth grade came in and closed out the
morning. After lunch I managed to get all the first graders who
hadn't finished from one of the classes to come down and finish. All
but two of them, and a fourth grader, managed to finish before one of
the kindergarten classes came in. Luckily I was able to keep the
kindergarteners somewhat quiet until the testers were finished.
The next kindergarten class and the
third grade class after them didn't come to the lab so I had the rest
of the afternoon to myself. I worked on a project for one of the
office ladies involving pictures of the sixth graders, I responded to
a discussion post, I talked to my mom, I scanned and started to edit
a card for one of the fifth grade teachers, and I spoke to the
librarian, showing her the book I got for my birthday. And I may
have done some other things that are slipping my mind.
I wanted to stay late after clocking
out to work on my paper until the Boys & Girls Club came into the
lab, and then I was going to move across the hall to the teacher's
lounge. This didn't work out because there was a circus in the
hallway outside the lab. It was the second day of tryouts for the
talent show and it was a madhouse. There was a guitar playing girl,
a boy on a skateboard, a girl twirling sticks, and two boys on pogo
sticks, which was the main reason for me leaving. I wanted to stay
for the quiet, non-distracting environment and I got the opposite of
that.
I ended up kind of hearing back
about the information literacy assignment I emailed to the library
guy. Our professor said he might be interested in using some of our
assignments on the library website and if we were interested to send
our products to him. So sent my caution signs. He emailed everyone
today and thanked us and said that he had passed them on to a couple
other people who would be making the final decision and if they
decided they wanted to use them in their undergraduate instruction,
then we would get an email with a permission form. So my fingers are
still crossed.
I also got and email from the human
resources director at the academic library that emailed about job
shadowing. She had been traveling the past week and hadn't been able
to respond to my email but she said she would contact the departments
I had mentioned in my email and see what she could do about setting
things up. That sounds promising.
For dinner my mom and I went back to
the Chinese buffet. I was still in the mood for it and I think she
was too. I took the time to look around more, and ended up getting
more of the same old stuff, including green beans this time, but I
also got cut up roasted potatoes, which I had never noticed before
because they were on the island that had a bunch of meat stuff on it.
The potatoes were good enough that I ended up getting them both
times. I definitely don't hit all the food groups at the buffet but
I could probably eat there every day.
For dessert I had cake and ice cream
when I got home. Not to long after that my throat started hurting.
I don't know if it is buffet related, or if I am suddenly allergic to
something in the cake or ice cream, or if one of the kids at school
has finally caught up to me. I just hope it doesn't hurt in the
morning.
I continued working on my paper
tonight. I moved into my bedroom, trying to channel last semester
when I didn't have the internet and just sat on my bed with my
laptop. I think it helps. I'm up to a page and a half now, still
far shy of the seven or eight page goal, but getting closer. I would
like to say my confidence level is rising but it shouldn't be if it
is because I have so much work left to do. And very little time to
do it in. I think I am slowly getting out of my head though and not
over thinking everything. That is the place I need to be because I
dug myself in deep with all the over thinking on this paper. Three
more days to go.
Now I'm going to go to bed. It is
only ten o'clock but I freaking beat. I've been exhausted and sleep
deprived all week and I'm not going to gain anything from staying up
late again tonight. I think I can be more productive tomorrow if I
have a good nights sleep tonight rather than continuing to get very
little sleep. I also have a big headache behind my left eye and the
sore throat I mentioned earlier. So yeah, I'm going to bed and hope
I feel better and well rested in the morning. It could happen.
